“Hello all!
My name is Josh Sumrall. I am originally from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. I did not grow up in a diverse place or a Spanish speaking home, but a cross cultural exchange in Reynosa, Mexico when I was 16 made me realize that I wanted both for my life. After studying K-12 Spanish education in Birmingham, Alabama, I packed my bags and moved to Madrid, Spain. I spent three years in Spain working for a non-profit and serving and teaching hundreds of university students all around the city.
Those three years deepened my understanding and love of cultural exchanges, as I feel a little piece of myself is forever stuck in both Spain and the US. I hope to see all of my students grow in their understanding of the “bigness” of our world and in their appreciation for other cultures. Teaching humanities gives me the opportunity to do that every single day, in English y Español!”
“My name is Courtney Fisher. I have been certified to teach since 2007. I received my Bachelors in Mass Communications from Winston Salem State University. I later received my certification to teach from North Carolina A&T. I began my teaching adventure as a Teacher’s Assistant and worked my way through school to become a teacher. I later went back to school to earn an MBA and graduated with honors in 2013.
I have worked in Durham County Schools, Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools, Wake County Schools and now Casa Esperanza. I have experience teaching 3rd through 8th grades. I look forward to my new journey with Casa.”
“Hello Parents! Welcome to Casa’s 2024/25 school year! We are excited to be with your child this year. My name is Senora Sibyl Caldwell aka Ms. C. I am the Paraprofessional for 7th/8th (MG). This will be my first year working as a Paraprofessional. Last year I worked as a Guest Teacher for the better part of the school year with all grade levels including Exceptional Children. I also volunteered with Pre-K and Kindergarten the school year before. So, I’m very excited to have my permanent home in MG working with such amazing and talented teachers! So, what else about Ms. C? Well, I am a native of North Carolina. I have been married for 16 years and we have a 10 year old daughter who attends Casa. I love to cook, travel, watch movies and spend time with my family.”
“I’m a big dead head! And love tie-dye, obviously! I love my wife and my pets, enjoy the outdoors, and travel.”
