Specific Test Information:

  • mCLASS – DIBELS 8 / Lectura
    • K-3 students
    • Assessed three times a year
    • The State Board of Education chose this formative/diagnostic assessment to identify potential reading difficulties and inform instruction.
    • mCLASS DIBELS 8 assesses reading foundational essentials in the following areas: letter names, phonemic awareness, letter sounds, decoding, word reading, reading accuracy, reading fluency, basic comprehension, oral language, and vocabulary (depending on the grade level)Both one to one administration and online format
  • Beginning of Grade 3
    • 3rd grade students
    • State mandated assessment to gather baseline data in ELA for 3rd grade students.
    • Online format given in person
  • NC Check Ins
    • 3rd – 8th grade students
    • Given three times a year
    • Provides students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders with immediate in-depth action-data and a reliable estimate of students’ current performance on the selected sub-set of content standards
    • Online format given in person
  • Reading End of Grade Assessment (EOG)
    • 3rd – 8th grade students
    • State mandated assessment to measure student progress on the ELA North Carolina Standard Course of Study
    • Online format given in person
  • Math End of Grade Assessment (EOG)
    • 3rd – 8th grade students
    • State mandated assessment to measure student progress on the Mathematics North Carolina Standard Course of Study

  • Science End of Grade Assessment (EOG)
    • 5th and 8th grade students

  • End of Course Assessment (EOC)
    • Students taking advanced courses for high school credit

    • A language proficiency screener given to new students to help educators identify whether they are English Language Learners (ELLs)
