Information Tours for Adults
Tours in English are given by appointment. 2012 Public Tours are at 9:00 -10:30 a.m. on January 11, January 25, February 8, February 29, and March 14. Tours given in Spanish are available upon request and by appointment.
Please call the school at 919.855.9811 to reserve your space on one of our public tours.
Our tours are designed for adults; we request you attend information tours without your children so you may make an adult observation to gain the most information about the educational program. Children are not admitted to classrooms during tours. Tours begin with an information overview, followed by a facility tour, and end with a question and answer session.
After enrollment, admitted students are invited to a special “get acquainted” tour of the school at the end of the year to learn their way around the school before summer vacation begins. We are sorry but we cannot permit individual observation in Casa’s classrooms by individuals interested in enrolling at Casa. Individuals are invited to attend as many public tours as they like.
Private Preschool Admission Procedures
Parents interested in making application to the private preschool program for their preschool-age child (age 36 months old before the first day of school through 5 years old after August 31), should fill out an application form from this website and submit it to the school with the registration fee. This fee is non-refundable once your child is accepted into the program. Preschool students must be completely toilet-trained and able to independently clean themselves in all areas associated with the bathroom to gain enrollment. Students that have continual accidents are not considered toilet-trained and therefore cannot remain in the program. Diapers and pull-ups are not permitted at Casa.
Casa Esperanza will begin accepting private preschool applications for the following school year beginning December 1.

Please include your registration fee with each application for preschool admission.
Public Charter School Admission Procedures for the 2012-2013 School Year
Parents who wish to enroll their child in the elementary charter school upon completion of the preschool program must make a new application for their child; that application will be used to enter the child in the Charter School Admission Lottery process for the child’s kindergarten year (the third year of Montessori Children’s House). There is no application fee for charter school admission. The charter school is a public school.

Charter School Lottery Procedures for the 2012-2013 School Year
In accordance with Montessori philosophy and North Carolina State Law, Casa Esperanza Montessori provides admission policies that allow all children the chance to gain admission. Casa Esperanza will begin accepting charter applications for grades K to 8 on January 3, 2012, and will continue accepting applications through March 16, 2012 for the 2012-2013 school year.
Children will be eligible for admission regardless of race, cultural background, intellectual ability, or physical impairment. To be eligible for kindergarten admission, students must be 5 years of age on or before August 31. See G.S. 115C-364.
Admission to the Casa Esperanza Charter School Program is determined by our annual lottery. In accordance with North Carolina charter admissions statutes , which may be referenced by clicking on the following website, preference is given to the following groups in the order listed: children of the school’s principal, teachers and teacher assistants; and children who already have siblings who were admitted to the school in a previous charter year.

Regular applications for admission will be received through March 16, 2012 until 3:30 pm.
- Applications will be sorted by student age.
- Notice of the impending lottery will be advertised one month prior to lottery date.
- The lottery process will occur on March 19, 2012 between 4 and 10:00 pm, will be accomplished by computer, and will be witnessed by at least one member of the Board.
- Children will be ordered on the appropriate age list in ascending order of random number, with preference given first to children of staff members and second to siblings.
- Children will be assigned to available enrollment openings according to listed order.
- Any remaining children will be assigned in their lottery order to an age appropriate wait list.
- Parents/guardians will be notified in writing of enrollment opening and asked to commit or decline within seven calendar days from receipt of notification.
- If parents decline an opening, the family of the next child on the appropriate age wait list will be contacted about the opening in writing.
- All applications received after 3:30 pm on March 16, 2012 will be added to the appropriate wait list. If space in the program becomes available, children are offered spaces according to the lottery number they have been assigned.
The admission process for Charter School Students is independently and publicly verifiable for fairness and compliance with written procedure.
Charter Students and the First Days of School
Casa parents should be aware of the impact of their child’s attendance in the Charter School during the first twenty days of school. Children are not counted as an enrolled student until they attend their first full half-day of instruction.
Full funding for the year requires that your student be in attendance on the first day of school. 1/20th of the full year funding is deducted each day your child is not enrolled. For example, if your child misses the first 5 days of school consecutively, he/she is considered enrolled on the sixth day and the school loses ¼ of the funding for your child for the year.
We know parents want Casa to receive the full annual funding for their student. To insure that funding, parents should have their child in attendance on the first day of school.
