Inclement Weather Procedures
Important: never assume that school will be closed, delay opening or close early. School will be open for the regular, daily schedule unless otherwise announced.
In case of snow or other potentially hazardous weather or emergency
situations, a decision may be made to close or delay school due to
poor, dangerous, or threatening weather. Please watch and listen for our closing announcements on:
- Our website: www.cemcs.org
- Television: WRAL Channel 5
- Television: Univision Channel 40
- AM Radio: WPTF: 680 AM
- AM Radio: Que Pasa 1030 AM
As soon as a decision is made, these radio and television stations are
notified, and a notice is posted on the school's web page, as well as
on the school's e-mail list-serv. We also update the school's
main phone line (855.9811) with a message to reflect the closing or
delay status. Please do not call radio and television stations. Telephone lines must be kept open so that news media can receive special information regarding schedule changes.
There may also be situations when we determine during the school day in progress that it is in the best interest of our community's safety to close early. Again, we will:
- Announce that decision on the above TV and radio stations, as well as on this web site
- Notify members of our e-mail list-serv, and
- Update the recording on our main phone line (dial 855.9811)
Should it become necessary to evacuate the building during the school day, Grace Community Church, which is located across the parking lot behind our school, has graciously agreed to allow us to shelter in their building. If that were the case, we would ask parents to park their cars and come inside the church to collect their children.

With many Casa community students, parents, and faculty members coming from as far away as Johnston County, we must recognize potentially hazardous conditions beyond North Raleigh and err on the side of caution, even when weather and/or road conditions in the North Raleigh area may not seem hazardous. Weather and road conditions can change quickly, so please bear with us as we try to make considerate safety decisions for every member of our community.
